Montclair Richtofen CastleIn the late 1800's Baron Walter von Richthofen promoted Montclair as a neighborhood that was suitable for easing tuberculosis.  TB houses, houses that featured open air side porches were built such that the rocky mountain clean air could benefit those who suffered.  In 1887 Richthofen completed the Richtofen Castle located in the neighborhood at 12th and Olive, which he modeled after the original Richthofen Castle in Germany.  The Baron promoted the area as one of the finest neighborhoods in the country and as a co-founder of the neighborhood enlisted strict building requirements. 

Today the Montclair neighborhood boast a Historical District designation and among its streets you will find a vast array of different architectual styles, from ranch style homes, Tudors, Cottages and Bungalows.  Monaco Parkway, the beautiful, picturesque, tree lined street that runs through the center of the area has long been one of the city's most desired addresses.
