Curtis Park/Five Points, is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Denver. Living in the Points is great, especially if you like a little variety. You can see everything from Victorian homes to modern housing developments, business executives and masters of industry to artists and wanderers. One famous wanderer to visit and fall in love was Jack Kerouac, who mentioned the Points several times in his book On The Road.
Five Points has an intimate history with the arts--specifically jazz. The area was sometimes referred to as "the Harlem of the West" due to the influence it had on the world of jazz music. Artists such as Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, and Miles Davis could frequently be seen performing at local clubs such as the Rossonian--which still stands and is slated to be renovated and reopened soon. Curtis Park continues to honor its jazz heritage every May with the "Five Points Jazz Fest", a free concert featuring over 100 musicians.
In addition to the arts, the neighborhood is famous for its food. Whether you crave authentic Caribbean cuisine, down-home soul food, or mouth-watering BBQ you don't have to look far for a great meal.
Truly a neighborhood with more to offer than most--history, music, food, art, and variety, make Curtis Park a great place to call home.
