The municipality was originally known as the city of Fletcher, from the businessman named Donald Fletcher who saw Aurora as an opportunity for resource and business development. Aurora reservoirs also stages different events and tournaments. It varies by month and tourney structure. It involves archery, trout fishing, fall fishing, and even a goose race.
