The municipality was originally known as the city of Fletcher, from the businessman named Donald Fletcher who saw Aurora as an opportunity for resource and business development. This event allows fun-loving people to watch and smash pumpkins in an entertaining way. Future innovation of pumpkin catapults are always a must see every year. Aurora reservoirs also stages different events and tournaments. It varies by month and tourney structure. It involves archery, trout fishing, fall fishing, and even a goose race.
